GETTING TO
Ireland
We know that a destination wedding involves extra travel, and we want to make your journey to The Lodge at Ashford Castle as seamless and stress-free as possible. Below you will find your best options, from the quickest route to the most budget-friendly, to help you plan your Irish adventure.
GETTING TO
Cong, Mayo
Once you land, you have three primary ways to complete your journey.
01
Private & Pre-Booked Car Service (The Easiest Route)
Book a private & pre-booked car service (The Easiest Route)
For a seamless, door-to-door experience, a pre-booked private transfer is the best option—especially after a long transatlantic flight.
Recommended Transfer Services:
-
SIXT ride & MyTransfers (International booking platforms)
02
Carpool and Share a Private Transfer
The most effective way to cut the price of a private transfer is to share the ride with a group of 3-4 or an even larger group! Please use the form below to connect with other guests arriving near your flight time and split the cost of a car service.
Wedding Guest Carpool Coordination Form: Share your flight and contact information.
Trip Coordination Trix: Access the trip matrix once the form is completed to coordinate your group.
03
The Cost-Saving Commute (Public Transit)
This is the most budget-friendly option, ideal for guests who don't mind a longer journey with transfers.
Public Bus to Galway/Claremorris: From both Shannon (SNN) and Dublin (DUB), you can take an express coach (e.g., Citylink or Bus Éireann) to the nearby hubs of Galway or Claremorris. From there, you will take a final local bus or a pre-booked local taxi (see local drivers below) to Cong. Please note that Ireland is not known for its amazing public transportation and this option may add significant travel time depending on your arrival airport.

Irish rail from Dublin Heuston station (40 mins from Dublin Airport) to Claremorris. Travel time 2hr 40m

04
Rental Car (For the Adventurous)
For total freedom, why not rent a car?
If you plan to tour the Wild Atlantic Way or spend a lot of time exploring, renting a car offers maximum freedom.
Important Note: Driving is on the left side of the road in Ireland.
Discount Code: The Lodge at Ashford Castle partners with Avis to offer a 10% discount on rentals in Ireland.
To redeem the discount, please call Avis directly or book online and quote S097200.
